Spartan SGX Bootcamp

Bootcamp details 

Join the 10-week Spartan SGX training in preparation for the Spartan Asheville race on August 5th (Super) and 6th (Sprint).  You’ll train and race together with the Upstate OCR Spartan Sprint and/or Super team led by a Spartan SGX certified coach.

Training location: Motive Movement

Training Starts: Tuesday, May 30th

Training Schedule: 

  • Every Tuesday 5:45pm-6:45pm (with the exception of the 4th of July when will instead be Thursday July 6th) 
  • Obstacle workshop TBD by participants


  • $297 or three payments of $99
  • Virtual option > > Virtual access to all workouts and private Facebook training group, plus option to attend up to 3 in person training sessions: $197

Private Facebook Group

The private group for the Spartan Bootcamp will have all the workouts posted as well as bonus workouts, nutrition/recipe recommendations, and additional training tips for preparing for the race.

Bonus Team Building Opportunities

Two (*optional) bonus workouts are being scheduled, including: obstacle workshop and group hikes. In addition to the workouts done at Motive Movement bonus workouts will be posted in the private group.

Discount on Race Entry

Registration for the Spartan Sprint is not included in the cost of the Spartan SGX bootcamp. However, participants will receive 25% off their race entry.

Running Program

Concerned about the distance? A beginner friendly training program to get 5k or 10k ready is included within the training app. 


Frequently asked questions

Do I have to do the Sprint AND the Super race? Nope! This bootcamp will prepare you for whichever race you have chosen to do and a coach will be participating in both.

Do I have to be a member of Motive Movement to sign up? You do not have to be a member of the gym to join Spartan SGX training.

What will the training sessions be like? Training sessions will be an hour long and over the course of the 10 weeks progress through the three phases of Spartan SGX training (function, fitness, and performance)using foundational training and progress to more obstacle specific as the race approaches. Training sessions will be primarily done outside, but indoor space is available should weather require it.

What obstacles do you have at Motive Movement? We have the rope climb, monkey bars, 6-8 foot wall, spear throw, bucket carries, and sandbag carries.

Will I be out of my element/is this just for young fit people? All of our past bootcamps have included participants of varying fitness levels and wide age ranges. Our workouts are designed to suit any fitness level, so you will feel appropriately challenged for your current abilities. 

Do I have to do the Spartan race? You are not obligated to do the Spartan race. You are more than welcome to do the training.

When is the deadline to sign up? Classes begin May 30th, we recommend signing up prior to that date in order to not miss any sessions.

What if I miss a session? All workouts will be posted in the private Facebook group. So if you miss a workout because you’re out of town or sick, you can catch up at home at the gym later.
